My first handmade art journal. Handpainted canvas, blanket stitch, handsewn binding
I started by book with a loose piece of cotton duck canvas I bought at a local fabric by the pound store.
Using acrylic paints, black gesso, handmade foam stamps and markers I decorated my fabric with words and layered images.
The inside pages are cold press watercolor paper that I cut down and folded. Many of the pages have flaps. Before I assembled the book I sewed on a an extra house cutout to add dimension.
There is a thin layer of batting between the inside and outside fabric. If I do this again i will leave that out. The canvas is thick enough with two layers. The signatures are added in one by one with a pamphlet stitch. A button was added for decoration and some stability.
Super cool!
